I am definitely one for honesty and full disclosure, so I like my readers to be fully informed about the images I produce and the content within them.
A couple of years ago I adopted a system inspired by a good blogging friend of mine, which is using specific hashtags to easily let readers and followers know when a product or service I am promoting has been gifted to me by a brand, I have been paid to promote the product or service, or the product or service is simply something I love and has not been gifted to me nor have I been paid to promote it. I call it my Hashtag Code. As it is a new year, I am refreshing the code.
This is my Hashtag Code:
#kaleidogifted – means the products/services in the image or post havebeen gifted to me by a brand, but no payment received.
#kaleidosponsored – means I have been paid to promote the products/services in the image or post.
#amandaloves – means the items/products/services in the image or postare simply things I love and have not been gifted and no payment has been received to mention them.
Do you have a Hashtag Code? If not, it’s something you should consider, your readers will love you for it. Keep it original and unique to you so it doesn’t get mixed up with someone else’s hashtags.
If you do, why don’t you refresh your reader’s memory and let new readers know your code?
To help you I have created a graphic that you can download for free to make it easy for you to spread the word!
Simply download the graphic, then either:
1. print it out and write your hashtags on it, photograph it and share on social media, or
2. edit the graphic with an image editing app that allows you to add text, add in your hashtags and then share on social media
Add the #hashtagcode to your images on social media and we can all follow along. Feel free to tag me too @AmandaFuller so others can find their way to download the graphic and use it too!
Hopefully this will be useful in helping you keep an open dialogue with your readers and followers.
