I have had the pleasure of working with Esther and Naomi, florists at The Sisters through work with one of my clients. They are super down-to-earth, totally fun and mind-blowingly creative! Their work with flowers is so unique and special and I love keeping an eye on what they are creating. It’s exciting for me to share this interview with you all from these special ladies!
Tell us a little about you:
N; I love a tidy home, always have a candle on and doing something creative.
E; I always have my film camera on me, and off adventuring in my van.
Tell us about your blog/business/work/life and how you arrived where you are:
N&E; it’s been a crazy journey and a heck a lot of hard work! We have been floraling for 6 and half years now and it’s been a real joy I must say!
Describe your perfect Sunday:
N&E; Our usual Sunday is pretty grand.. Church, then we usually meet up for lunch (yeah we work and family and hang out together) have an afternoon snooze, then a good tv show!
You just can’t live without:
E; each other
N; I’m gonna give in to the cheesiness, and say Esther.
Who is your role model?
E; John Mayer- yeah I have a weird obsession with the guy. His music does something to me.
N; Saskia from grandiflora has always been a big inspiration
What would you tell your 16-year-old self?
E; Enjoy those sleep ins, you won’t have those for very long! haha
N; I’d tell her a little snippet of her future
What has been one of your biggest triumphs and how did you get there?
E; I guess having the shop and the studio, I started when I was 18, which is so young, so the fact that we have made it is pretty triumphant!
N; when Frankie asked us to do the ‘my shop’ article! We had pursued them about it a few years earlier but when they emailed us and chased us down it was a real dream come true!
What is your favourite quote?
E; ‘Your body is made of the same elements that lionesses are built from, three-quarters of you is the same kind of water that beats rocks to rubble, wears stones away. Your DNA translates into the same twenty amino acids that wolf genes code for. When you look in the mirror and feel weak, remember, the air you breath in fuels forest fires capable of destroying everything they touch. On the days you feel ugly remember: diamonds are only carbon, you are so much more.’
N; MERAKI (v) to do something with soul, creativity, or love; when you leave a piece of yourself in your work.
Woman to woman – what would you like to say to Kaleidoscope readers?
N&E; Not one person could be here if it weren’t for a woman. We are the world changers!
